About the Role

The UX Designer II at Renaissance Learning is a pivotal role that brings the company's mission to life by designing solutions that are empathetic to the needs of students and educators. This involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and product management, to innovate and execute on product visions. The ideal candidate is an all-around designer with both interaction and visual design skills, capable of understanding complex educational needs and translating them into USABLE and engaging experiences.

As part of the design team, the UX Designer II will be responsible for contributing to the development of Renaissance's educational solutions, ensuring they are intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with the company's mission to accelerate learning. What You Will Do

  • Design and deliver high-quality, user-centered design solutions that meet business needs and user goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and other designers to align on project goals and deliverables.

  • Develop and maintain design specifications, prototypes, and design systems.
  • Communicate design concepts and specifications effectively to stakeholders.
  • Participate in usability testing and feedback sessions to ensure designs meet user needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the design process and standards.
  • Develop and maintain design guidelines and standards across products.
  • Work closely with the product management team to define product requirements and roadmaps.

What We Are Looking For

  • A portfolio that showcases experience in designing complex, user-centered solutions, particularly in the education sector.
  • 3+ years of experience in UX design, preferably in the education technology industry.
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design principles and UX design methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and inVision.
  • Experience with design systems and creating design specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience with usability testing and feedback incorporation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with front-end development principles, especially HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
