Job Description

About the Role

The Venture Lending Associate role at Banco Covalto is a highly technical position that requires a deep understanding of credit investments and deal execution. As a key member of the Global Venture Lending team, you will be responsible for driving deals from initial due diligence through to closing and portfolio monitoring. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with high-growth companies and contribute to the growth of the venture lending market.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with experience in venture debt, structured finance, or private credit. You will be working closely with the Managing Director to scale the team and drive business growth.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the development and rigorous review of financial and credit models, including detailed cash flow forecasting, scenario analysis, and stress testing
  • Coordinate comprehensive due diligence processes, interfacing directly with management teams and venture sponsors to evaluate business models and creditworthiness
  • Design and analyze transaction structures, including collateral packages, restrictive covenants, and risk mitigation strategies tailored to high-growth companies
  • Prepare and present high-conviction investment memorandums and credit papers to the Investment Committee
  • Support the negotiation of legal documentation and the execution of transactions, collaborating closely with internal and external counsel
  • Oversee portfolio health, monitor covenant compliance, and evaluate ongoing performance against the original investment thesis
  • Supervise and mentor junior analysts, ensuring high standards of technical output and supporting the recruitment of new team members
  • Manage one direct report and assist the Managing Director in scaling the team by hiring and onboarding additional resources

What We Are Looking For

  • 4-7 years of experience in Venture Debt, Structured Finance, Private Credit, or a related technical lending field
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis
  • Strong understanding of the venture capital lifecycle and credit dynamics within the technology and fintech sectors
  • Native or professional fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; CFA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong focus on technical precision and results-oriented mindset

  • Experience with financial modeling software such as Excel, Financial Modeling, or other related tools
