Job Description

About the Role

The Vertical Transportation Designer will play a critical role in shaping and improving vertical transportation systems through thoughtful design coordination and integration into complex building environments. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborating with a team of experienced professionals to deliver high-quality results. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing drawings, layouts, and technical solutions, as well as generating BIM deliverables and assisting project managers with model presentations.

As a key member of the Vertical Transportation group, the designer will work closely with project managers and technical center managers to ensure seamless integration of designs into overall building systems. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The Vertical Transportation Designer will be working on a wide range of projects, from initial design concepts to final project delivery. The ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain quality standards is essential in this role.

What You Will Do

  • Produce drawings, layouts, and technical solutions for vertical transportation systems
  • Generate BIM deliverables, including modeling and detailing for project documents
  • Assist project managers with model presentations for project teams and client meetings
  • Complete Revit project setup and ensure data integrity
  • Download, review, and understand design drawings and models to accurately design and coordinate vertical transportation systems
  • Communicate design changes and issues with project managers and design teams
  • Collaborate on multi-discipline, multi-company projects
  • Provide layouts of vertical transportation, including passenger and freight elevators, escalators, and moving walks
  • Determine and document vertical transportation technical data, such as dimensions, structural loading, and electrical requirements
  • Research elevator, building, and applicable codes to ensure compliance
  • Generate and improve the growing library of Revit families

What We Are Looking For

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM/Revit, AutoCAD, and architectural and/or engineering drafting
  • Familiarity with architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Experience with quality assurance/quality control processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read design blueprints and understand BIM workflows and project setup

Nice to Have

  • Elevator/escalator design/drafting experience
  • Experience with Revit/CAD file integration into projects
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Certified Quality Management System
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
