About the Role
The Vice President, Finance Strategy & Operations will play a pivotal role in driving Gitlab's financial strategy and operations, serving as the CFO's chief operating partner. This position is crucial in ensuring the company's financial function is scalable, efficient, and aligned with its growth objectives as a public company. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and leading the Finance Strategy & Operations function, providing strategic guidance and operational expertise to the Finance Leadership Team.The role is finance-led and finance-owned, requiring a deep understanding of financial principles, operational rigor, and strategic clarity. The Vice President will partner closely with the CRO, CPO, CIO, and executive leadership team to drive cross-functional initiatives, including Lead-to-Cash optimization, consumption-based business model transition, and global expansion strategy.
What You Will Do
- Act as the CFO's day-to-day operating partner on Finance org operations and strategic change agenda
- Review and stress-test processes and operating models, implementing better ways of working
- Develop and execute Finance's multi-year transformation roadmap aligned with Gitlab's growth and public company requirements
- Lead Finance's role in Gitlab's most consequential cross-functional initiatives
- Establish governance frameworks with executive-level reporting on progress, outcomes, and business value
- Redesign core Finance processes to achieve operational excellence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and optimization
- Provide strategic guidance and operational expertise to the Finance Leadership Team
- Build and lead the Finance Strategy & Operations function
- Drive the development and execution of strategic initiatives
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in finance strategy and operations
- Proven track record of driving financial growth and optimization
- Expertise in GTM, Adjust, and Excel
- Strong understanding of financial principles and operational rigor
- Strategic clarity and ability to translate complex ideas into disciplined execution
- Experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fully distributed, async-first environment
- Experience with consumption-based business models and global expansion strategies
