## About the Role As a Vice President of Government Affairs at Fivetran, you will be at the forefront of shaping the company's strategy across lobbying, political engagement, and public policy. This is a highly strategic, externally facing role that requires influencing policy outcomes, building relationships with key decision-makers, and coordinating company-wide engagement on government affairs. You will partner closely with executive leadership, including the CEO, to elevate Fivetran's presence in policy discussions and navigate complex regulatory and competitive dynamics.
The role entails building and leading Fivetran's government relations function from the ground up, defining and executing the company's strategy, and ensuring Fivetran is proactively shaping the regulatory and political landscape in which it operates. Given the importance of data in today's digital economy, the ability to articulate Fivetran's role and impact in this context will be crucial.
Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, you will have a direct line to the heart of the company's legal and compliance initiatives, allowing for a cohesive approach to government affairs and regulatory matters.
## What You Will Do - Build and own Fivetran's government affairs and political strategy from the ground up - Design and execute a comprehensive lobbying and policy engagement strategy aligned with company priorities - Develop and manage Fivetran's political engagement strategy, including campaign contributions, PAC/C4 alignment, and external political relationships - Establish and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, trade associations, and industry coalitions - Lead development of Fivetran's policy positions, including drafting briefs, comment letters, and external communications - Coordinate company-wide engagement on government affairs, ensuring alignment and effective communication across departments - Analyze and assess regulatory and policy impact on Fivetran's business, recommending strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities - Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations - Represent Fivetran in external forums, conferences, and meetings, promoting the company's interests and policy positions
## What We Are Looking For - A minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field, preferably in the tech sector - Proven track record of success in shaping policy outcomes and influencing regulatory decisions - Strong understanding of the tech industry, including data integration, AI, and related policy issues - Experience in lobbying, political engagement, and public policy development - Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and projects - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex regulatory issues - Proficiency in using policy and regulatory tracking tools, CRM, and stakeholder engagement platforms - Experience with data analysis tools to assess regulatory and policy impact
