About the Role
The Vice President of Engineering, UX/Commercial Applications at Natera will lead a 100+ person engineering organization responsible for the company's commercial software platforms. This leader will focus on strengthening execution, raising engineering standards, and advancing AI-enabled product and development capabilities. The role entails driving technical innovation, improving delivery predictability, and developing strong engineering leaders.As a key member of the engineering organization, the Vice President will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful development and deployment of commercial software platforms. The role reports to the SVP, UX Products & Engineering, and will be responsible for leading Directors and Sr. Directors to achieve engineering excellence.

What You Will Do
- Lead and scale a 100+ engineer organization through Directors and Sr. Directors
- Improve delivery predictability, engineering velocity, and production quality
- Strengthen planning, estimation, and development processes
- Raise the bar on accountability and ownership
- Develop strong engineering leaders and succession depth
- Engage deeply in architecture reviews and technical decisions
- Expand the use of Generative AI across patient and provider workflows
- Scale AI-powered automation (chat/voice, document processing, operational workflows)
- Ensure AI solutions are secure, reliable, and production-ready
- Drive thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development tools
- Improve SDLC efficiency through automation and modern tooling
What We Are Looking For
- 15+ years of software engineering experience
- 6+ years leading large engineering organizations (50-150+ engineers)
- Strong technical depth in cloud-native distributed systems (AWS preferred)
- Experience deploying AI/ML or GenAI solutions in production environments
- Track record of improving execution, quality, and engineering effectiveness
- Experience leading in fast-paced, growth environments
- Focus on raising standards without adding unnecessary bureaucracy
- Technical expertise in modern web stacks (APIs, React, TypeScript, services)
- Experience building scalable, highly available platforms
Nice to Have
- Experience with EMR integrations and interoperability
- Knowledge of internal service and operational systems
- Familiarity with omni-channel communications and billing and revenue platforms
- Experience with AI-powered chat and voice automation
