About the Role

As the Vice President of Operations at Urban Insight, you will be the company's number two, reporting directly to the CEO. You will have two core responsibilities: driving operational excellence and leading the delivery organization as the core revenue engine. Your expertise will be instrumental in navigating the company's growth, ensuring seamless integration of operations, and fostering a culture of innovation.

The role entails leading the delivery organization, defining delivery standards, and ensuring the project management function is structured and resourced to lead complex engagements end-to-end. You will also own and operate the company's planning and execution system, translating strategic direction into clear execution plans and driving the leadership team to results.

What You Will Do

  • Own the delivery organization as a revenue-generating engine, accountable for project execution quality, on-time and on-budget performance, resource allocation, and margin.
  • Define delivery standards, own capacity planning against project demand, and ensure the PM function is structured and resourced to lead complex engagements end-to-end.
  • Develop and scale internal processes and systems across the business, ensuring the organization runs efficiently and can support continued growth.
  • Own recruiting, onboarding, and performance management to consistently hire and retain top talent at every level.
  • Lead employee engagement and culture as an ongoing operational function, owning the employee experience from hire to departure.
  • Own the company's operational performance metrics, including utilization, project margin, revenue mix, pipeline health, and capacity.
  • Coach and develop the next layer of leaders into effective department owners, ensuring they have clear plans, the right support structure, and real accountability for results.
  • Build visibility into the right agency levers, interpret trends, and drive data-informed decisions that optimize how the business performs with its current resources.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO on strategy and the operational levers that enable sustainable revenue growth.

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of operations and leadership experience, including time operating as a senior leader reporting to a COO or CEO.
  • At least half of those years in a web development or digital agency context.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence, strategic execution, and revenue growth.
  • Strong expertise in project management, including resource allocation, capacity planning, and margin management.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret trends and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Experience with open-source content management systems, such as Drupal and WordPress, is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with headless architectures and modern web development technologies.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and lean principles.
  • Certification in project management or a related field.
