About the Role
The Video Production Intern will play a crucial role in supporting Our National Conversation's mission to provide nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions. As a key member of the Media & Marketing department, this position will assist in various aspects of video production, from preproduction support to editing and post-production. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.Our National Conversation is a unique organization that seeks to reduce partisanship and promote effective solutions to America's challenges. Powered by America's youth, the organization hosts a media outlet, produces educational materials, and facilitates dialogue intended to make America a better country. The Video Production Intern will be an integral part of this mission, contributing to the creation of high-quality content that engages and informs audiences.
The Media & Marketing department is a collaborative and dynamic team that values creativity, innovation, and attention to detail. The Video Production Intern will work closely with the team to ensure the successful production of video content, including preproduction support, scripting, recording, and editing.
What You Will Do
- Research episode topics, guests, and relevant visuals for preproduction support
- Prepare notes and episode outlines
- Draft episode scripts, segment cues, and social clip captions
- Assist with remote recording sessions, including monitoring audio/video quality and troubleshooting basic tech issues
- Clean up dialogue, assemble multi-track sessions, and export final episode masters for audio editing
- Create episode video edits, picture-in-picture or speaker cuts, and repurpose long-form content into short clips for video editing
- Manage the media folder within the ONC Google drive
- Communicate effectively with the team through Slack, Email, and Zoom
- Attend meetings and contribute to the planning and production of video content
What We Are Looking For
- Currently working towards a degree in Film Production, Broadcast Journalism, Digital Media, Visual/Fine Arts, or a related field
- Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict
- Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
- Experience with Adobe Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, including Google Drive and Docs
- Ability to lead weekly Video Production team meetings
- Authorization to intern in the U.S.
Nice to Have
- Experience with video editing software, such as Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
- Knowledge of SEO principles and how to optimize video content for online platforms
