Job Description

About the Role

The Visual Storytelling & Innovation Lead role is a pivotal position within Openai's Office of the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), focused on orchestrating the global go-to-market motion and driving scalable commercial growth. This role is at the intersection of storytelling, design, and innovation, aiming to elevate how Openai communicates and operates. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership across Sales, Marketing, Product, and Communications to shape and execute high-impact narratives and operationalize emerging AI tools.

The Office of the CRO plays a critical role in translating strategy into execution, ensuring alignment across various departments and enabling the revenue organization to operate with clarity, speed, and cohesion. As Openai scales rapidly, the ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity, consistency, and impact is becoming a critical unlock for growth. This role complements the strategic and operational work of the Office of the CRO by focusing on how ideas are translated into clear, compelling stories and how new tools can unlock more effective and empowered ways of working.

What You Will Do

  • Lead narrative development and presentation design for CRO-led strategic events, executive briefings, and key customer engagements
  • Translate complex product, strategy, and customer insights into clear, compelling visual and written stories
  • Bring storytelling to life through product demos and interactive experiences, showcasing Openai capabilities
  • Bring a strong point of view on what “great” looks like, raising the bar for craft in how ideas are communicated
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff to the CRO to translate strategic initiatives into clear, compelling narratives
  • Lead “customer zero” adoption of Openai technologies, identifying, prototyping, and scaling high-impact use cases
  • Prototype and develop lightweight custom GPTs and internal apps that enhance productivity and unlock new workflows
  • Develop narratives and examples that demonstrate how these technologies can be applied in real-world customer and internal contexts
  • Serve as a bridge between product capabilities and real-world GTM application, translating innovation into tangible business impact
  • Partner closely with the CRO and Chief of Staff to shape how Openai’s GTM organization contributes to the broader conversation on AI and go-to-market transformation

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in visual storytelling, design, and innovation, preferably in a tech or AI-related field
  • Strong narrative development and presentation design skills
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling visual and written stories
  • Experience in driving innovation through emerging technologies
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills, with the ability to work closely with leadership across various departments
  • Understanding of go-to-market strategies and the ability to apply them in real-world contexts
  • Experience with AI technologies, particularly in developing custom solutions or prototypes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present to executive audiences
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a startup or rapidly scaling tech company
  • Knowledge of design thinking principles and human-centered design
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
  • Certification in design, innovation, or a related field

Benefits and Perks

  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of AI technology and innovation
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment
  • Professional development opportunities, including training and education support
  • Flexible remote work arrangements
  • Competitive compensation package, including equity
  • Comprehensive health insurance and wellness programs
  • Generous PTO and holiday policy
  • Access to the latest technologies and tools

How to Stand Out

  • Tip: Highlight your portfolio of visual storytelling projects, especially those that demonstrate your ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • To stand out, prepare examples of how you've driven innovation through emerging technologies and how these innovations impacted business outcomes.
  • When discussing your experience, focus on specific accomplishments rather than just listing responsibilities.
  • Be prepared to walk the interviewer through your design and development process, showcasing your problem-solving skills.
  • Don't underestimate the importance of soft skills; being able to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse teams is crucial.
  • During salary negotiations, consider not just the base salary but also the equity and benefits package, as these can significantly impact your total compensation.
  • Red flag: If the company seems overly focused on short-term gains without considering long-term strategy or employee development, it might be a sign of a mismatch in values.
