About the Role
The VP Engineering at Urrly will play a critical role in modernizing the company's pediatric therapy SaaS platform. This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader to drive transformation and shape the future of the company's technology stack. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions.As a key member of the executive team, the VP Engineering will work closely with the CEO, product, and design teams to define and deliver the company's technology vision. This will involve leading the modernization of the legacy platform, introducing new technologies and architectures, and building a high-performing engineering team.
The VP Engineering will also be responsible for defining and implementing the company's technology strategy, including the adoption of cloud-native patterns, AI-powered clinical features, and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure. What You Will Do
- Define and deliver the company's technology vision and strategy
- Lead the modernization of the legacy platform, introducing new technologies and architectures
- Build and manage a high-performing engineering team, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing talent
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and clinical teams
- Develop and implement a phased modernization plan, aligned to product, clinical, and business goals
- Advise the CEO and Board on architecture, AI adoption, and cloud investments
- Own HIPAA Security Rule posture, drive SOC 2 Type II readiness, and instill a security-first culture
- Stand-up CI/CD, IaC, observability, and disaster-recovery pipelines in AWS/Azure/GCP
- Architect a data lake/warehouse integrating clinical, billing, and ops data
- Deliver clinician-facing AI features and developer AI tooling while meeting privacy and safety standards
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading teams as Director, Sr. Manager, or equivalent
- Hands-on mastery of the Microsoft .NET ecosystem and a successful track record modernizing legacy .NET systems
- Proven experience architecting and shipping large-scale JavaScript/TypeScript front-ends (React, Vue, or Angular)
- Deep familiarity with HIPAA-regulated environments and healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, X12, etc.)
- Cloud and DevOps depth with AWS, Azure, or GCP—IaC, containers, CI/CD, monitoring
- Demonstrated success delivering AI/ML capabilities in production SaaS products
- Player/coach leadership style: you still code, review PRs, and set architectural guardrails while empowering others
- Excellent collaboration skills across product, design, clinical, and commercial teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with pediatric therapy, EHR/EMR, or revenue-cycle software
- Ownership of SOC 2 Type II audits, ambient clinical NLP, or PE-backed scale-ups
- Experience with modern .NET 8/9+ and cloud-native patterns
- Familiarity with healthcare data analytics and AI-powered clinical decision support
