About the Role

The VP of Medical Science & Strategy will play a pivotal role in Thermo Fisher Scientific's PPD clinical research business, focusing on cardiovascular diseases. This position requires a seasoned medical professional with extensive experience in driving strategic and measurable business outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality input into significant requests for proposals, supporting outstanding input into other areas of the business, providing therapeutic and developmental expertise to internal teams, and contributing to innovative initiatives.

The role entails collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, client engagement, and clinical trial operations. The VP will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive business growth, identifying new business opportunities, and fostering strong relationships with clients and industry leaders.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement medical strategy and regulatory issues for significant requests for proposals
  • Provide input into other areas of the PPD clinical research business activities, including pro-active client engagement and strategic alliance development
  • Support sales for proposals and bid defenses, engaging clients' senior medical/scientific leadership in discussions
  • Provide therapeutic and developmental expertise to internal teams, including indication-specific training for clinical teams
  • Contribute to the design and reporting of feasibility studies
  • Liaise with investigators and key opinion leaders
  • Mentor and supervise clinical scientists
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and working groups to contribute to innovative initiatives
  • Develop and deliver training on medical and therapeutic requirements of proposals
  • Identify business opportunities for the PPD clinical research business

What We Are Looking For

  • MD required, with board certification preferred
  • At least 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, leading cardiovascular clinical development programs
  • Active medical license preferred but not required
  • Proven track record of driving strategic and measurable business outcomes
  • Extensive expertise in cardiovascular diseases
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
