About the Role
The VP of Business Development - Private Shares will play a critical role in driving new business growth within the startup ecosystem. This is a remote position that requires a high level of visibility and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key ecosystem partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating deal flow, building deep relationships with centers of influence, and partnering with local ecosystem leaders to drive business growth.As a key member of the Fidelity Private Shares team, the VP of Business Development will be responsible for developing and implementing a local ecosystem engagement strategy focused on founder acquisition. This will involve building and managing relationships with venture firms, law firms, accelerators, and innovation hubs to consistently generate founder introductions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the startup and venture community, as well as the ability to represent Fidelity as an inspiring leader in this space.
The VP of Business Development will work closely with the sales, marketing, customer success, and product teams to align on messaging and convert opportunities into clients. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of the private shares sector.
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement a local ecosystem engagement strategy focused on founder acquisition
- Build and manage relationships with venture firms, law firms, accelerators, and innovation hubs
- Partner with local ecosystem leaders to coordinate and host events, roundtables, and curated founder experiences
- Generate deal flow by engaging directly with founders and startup operators
- Act as a connector across the market, finding opportunities to bring founders, partners, and Fidelity together
- Activate partnerships into tangible pipeline by converting relationships and events into qualified sales opportunities
- Represent Fidelity as an inspiring leader in the startup and venture community
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, customer success, and product teams to align on messaging and convert opportunities into clients
- Develop repeatable strategies to scale founder engagement and pipeline generation across the region
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 15+ years of proven experience in business development, partnerships, or sales roles
- Proven track record of sourcing and developing new business opportunities through relationships and community presence
- Strong networking, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage founders and senior partners
- Experience hosting or organizing events that drive significant business outcomes
- Understanding of SaaS business models and the venture/startup ecosystem
- Existing relationships within venture capital firms, law firms, or startup communities strongly preferred
- Ability to work in a remote setting and travel approximately 25% of the time
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of equity administration platforms and their role in the startup ecosystem
- Familiarity with the Fidelity Private Shares platform and its capabilities
