About the Role
The VP, Product Management at Sotheby's will be responsible for developing and executing the company's product strategy, focusing on front-end experiences that drive demand on Sothebys.com and the mobile app. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and business stakeholders, to deliver a seamless user experience. As a key member of the product leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's digital transformation.The role will involve a deep understanding of Sotheby's core business lines, including auctions, private sales, and retail. You will be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, market research, and user feedback to inform product decisions. Your ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw meaningful insights will be essential in driving product growth.
As a leader, you will be responsible for managing a team of product managers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure the successful execution of product initiatives. Your expertise in product development, user experience, and data analysis will be crucial in driving the company's digital strategy forward.
What You Will Do
- Develop a deep understanding of Sotheby's core business lines, including auctions, private sales, and retail
- Create a product vision for client-facing applications through market research, user interviews, and data analysis
- Define a product roadmap, generating and collecting ideas, and assessing impact-based priorities
- Collaborate with engineering leadership on resource planning and allocation
- Work closely with the design team to develop mockups and conduct user research
- Partner with the data science team to understand key user and business metrics, testing plans, and measurement for individual projects
- Drive project execution, leading agile scrum sessions with development teams
- Provide executive updates and stakeholder meetings, ensuring alignment and buy-in
- Write concise product requirements and summaries for new feature releases
- Develop strong partnerships with both product and business teams
- Lead working group meetings to make key decisions, remove obstacles, and raise risks, ensuring business goals are met
What We Are Looking For
- 15+ years of product management experience, with at least 7 years of management experience
- Experience in a consumer technology environment, with a focus on front-end product development
- Proven track record of successfully launching websites and apps in the market
- Ability to set and drive the big picture strategy for a cross-functional team
- Strong understanding of user experience and art, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Proficient in common product design and management frameworks
- Organized, collaborative, and flexible, with the ability to work calmly and professionally under time-sensitive deadlines
- Logical problem solver and decision maker, with strong attention to detail and clear assessment of tradeoffs
- Strong analytical skills, with a data-first mindset
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the luxury art market or a related field
- Knowledge of auction systems, private sales, and retail operations
- Familiarity with design and development tools, such as Sketch, Figma, and Jira
- Certification in product management, such as CSPO or AIPMM
