About the Role
The Waste Management Technician will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant handling, treatment, and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste at RelaxAway's destination in North Eleuthera. This role requires a thorough understanding of hazardous materials, proper disposal techniques, and environmental compliance regulations. The technician will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that all activities adhere to regulatory requirements, company policies, and environmental standards.As a key member of the team, the Waste Management Technician will monitor and manage waste streams, properly segregate materials, and ensure that containers and storage areas meet safety and labeling requirements. The technician will also conduct inspections, perform routine maintenance on waste management equipment, and document all waste handling activities accurately.
What You Will Do
- Assist with waste collection and processing on site
- Process hazardous materials, including testing, categorization, bulking, lab packing, and preparing hazardous waste shipping documents
- Plan, prepare, and set up waste-related activities and events
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repair of electrical, mechanical, and heavy equipment
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and safety wear on site
- Follow all compliance and safety regulations associated with proper waste disposal
- Write reports of inspections, investigations, or incidents and document activities
- Provide first aid support if required
- Provide training and make recommendations on changes to procedures
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designee
What We Are Looking For
- Strong Microsoft Office suite skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication and planning skills
- Ability to multi-task and think critically
- High School Diploma or GED; equivalent experience is required
- Additional education in Hospitality or a related field is a plus
- Technical/waste certification required
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a technical maintenance environment in a Hotel or related industry
- Previous work experience preferred
- Fluency in conversational English, strong written and verbal communication skills
