About the Role

The Water Safety Specialist role at Four Seasons Resort in the Bahamas is a unique position that combines the traditional responsibilities of a lifeguard with the modern need for digital literacy. This role is critical to ensuring the safety of guests at the resort, particularly in waterfront areas. The successful candidate will be part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional service and ensuring that every guest has a memorable and safe experience.

Day-to-day, the Water Safety Specialist will be responsible for monitoring guest activity, responding to emergencies, and utilizing trained techniques to assist or rescue individuals in need. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, the ability to work well under pressure, and excellent communication skills. The Water Safety Specialist will also be part of the resort's security department, working closely with other teams to ensure a safe and secure environment for all guests.

Given the luxury nature of the Four Seasons brand, the Water Safety Specialist must also be able to provide service that meets the high standards of the resort. This includes being knowledgeable about the resort's facilities, services, and activities, and being able to make recommendations to guests.

What You Will Do

  • Monitor guest activity within designated areas to ensure a safe environment
  • Respond to emergencies, utilizing watercraft and rescue boards as necessary
  • Administer First Aid and/or CPR during emergency situations
  • Recognize hazardous situations and behaviors and respond accordingly
  • Assist in evacuation procedures for pool or beach areas
  • Operate motorized ride lifts and dispatch stations, following safety protocols
  • Utilize video monitors to supervise ride activity
  • Implement emergency action plans for ride evacuations
  • Collaborate with other resort staff to ensure a safe and secure environment
  • Participate in training and professional development to maintain and improve skills
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and near-misses
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests

What We Are Looking For

  • Current lifeguard certification
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury resort setting
  • Strong swimming and water rescue skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience with digital tools and systems for monitoring and response
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and guests as necessary

  • Experience with water sports and activities
  • Knowledge of Bahamian culture and customs
