Job Description

About the Role

The Wind Hub Technician position is a critical role in maintaining the optimal function and output of wind turbines. As a Wind Hub Technician at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for performing daily maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on wind turbines. You will work closely with site and hub leadership to execute contractual obligations and ensure alignment with GE excellence. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include working on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repair. You will also be required to document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures and work with GE's remote operations center when necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wind energy or a related field, with experience in electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance.

The team you will be working with is dedicated to ensuring the optimal performance of wind turbines, and you will be an integral part of this team. You will report to the site lead and manager, who will provide guidance and support to help you succeed in this role.

What You Will Do

  • Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
  • Work with site and hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with GE's remote operations center when necessary
  • Help in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
  • Observe all safety requirements
  • Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs
  • Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gear

What We Are Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic
  • Completed Wind Certificate Program/Associate's Degree in Energy
  • 2 years of electrical work experience
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to work in a range of environments
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision

Nice to Have

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools
  • Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance
  • Working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
