About the Role
The WordPress Developer position at Sryde Digital Marketing is a full-time, permanent role that requires 40 hours of work per week. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting WordPress websites for clients, including both back-end and front-end development. Your working hours may occasionally or permanently include some time spent on Saturdays or Sundays to support the help desk, but flexibility can be discussed during the interview process.As a WordPress Developer, you will play a critical role in helping clients achieve their business objectives through custom digital marketing strategies. What You Will Do
- Design, implement, and manage client websites using WordPress, ensuring they are responsive, secure, and meet the latest web development standards.
- Convert comprehensive graphic layouts and wireframes into working WordPress websites.
- Manage front-end and back-end website development, including installing, configuring, and customizing commercial WordPress plugins and themes.
- Create, maintain, and debug custom-developed WordPress plugins and themes to meet specific client needs.
- Communicate with clients through the support desk, including email and phone communication, to address their website requests and issues.
- Maintain well-documented, reusable, and transferable code, following best practices in web development.
- Solve theme compatibility issues, plugin conflicts, and accessibility concerns to ensure client websites are always operational.
- Work with client domain name registrar accounts and customize/change DNS records as necessary.
- Migrate websites from one server to another when required, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Collaborate with the server provider's support team to troubleshoot and correct server-related issues.
- Participate in team meetings to provide updates on your work, discuss challenges, and share ideas for improvement.
- Use the project management tool to record tasks and track time spent on projects, enhancing transparency and efficiency.
What We Are Looking For
- Proficiency in developing with WordPress, with a strong portfolio of previous work.
- Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and jQuery, with the ability to apply these skills in a WordPress environment.
- Experience using debugging tools such as Firebug and Chrome Inspector to identify and fix issues quickly.
- Strong understanding of front-end and back-end website development, with the ability to manage and optimize both aspects.
- Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML), applying this understanding to integrate external services with WordPress sites.
- Understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial) to manage code revisions efficiently.
- Experience with cPanel and WHM, with the ability to manage server settings and DNS records.
- Flexibility in using commercial and custom-built themes and plugins, adapting to the specific needs of each project.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for quality, ensuring that all work meets high standards.
- Integrity and a positive attitude, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Nice to Have
- Skill in UI/UX design, especially for websites, to enhance the visual appeal and user experience of client sites.
- Experience with SEO implementation, knowing how to optimize WordPress sites for better search engine rankings.
