About the Role
The Workup and Settlement Attorney role at Keller Postman is a critical part of the firm's case management team, focusing on managing decision points for case progression and preparing cases for settlement. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will work closely with case managers, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure efficient and effective casework execution. Keller Postman represents a broad array of clients in complex legal matters, including class and mass actions, individual arbitrations, and multidistrict litigation. The firm's expertise spans high-profile mass tort, antitrust, privacy, product liability, employment, and consumer-rights cases, making it a dynamic and challenging environment for legal professionals.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate closely with the case management team to work up settlement-eligible clients, evaluating decision points such as reviewing notes, medical records, and related documentation to determine case progression.
- Manage client interactions during the offer process for settlement offers generated by the case management team, ensuring clear communication and support throughout.
- Coordinate with Case Managers, legal assistants, and other team members to execute casework efficiently and effectively.
- Serve as the on-call attorney as part of the elevation rotation once every 1-2 weeks, providing timely and professional support to clients and team members.
- Interact with clients, outside counsel, experts, and vendors as necessary to support case resolution.
- Contribute to refining the firm’s settlement processes to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Work closely with Partners and Associates on specific tasks related to assigned cases.
- Participate in the elevation rotation on a regular basis to ensure comprehensive support and oversight.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of client interactions and case progressions.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance case management efficiency.
What We Are Looking For
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Three to five years of experience in a high volume PI or Plaintiff’s firm.
- Active member of a US State Bar and in good standing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain a good temperament and demonstrate empathy when dealing with clients in stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM or case management software.
- Experience reviewing medical records and familiarity with medical terminology, especially for cancers and related conditions.
- Experience in a role that requires intensive interaction with clients and non-lawyer colleagues.
- Familiarity with large mass torts cases and the processes involved.
