Job Description

About the Role

The Zabbix Engineer role at Wifinity is a contract position for 6 months, focusing on delivering the client's monitoring solution. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing the Zabbix monitoring platform to ensure consistent and scalable configuration across all monitored devices. Your work will have a direct impact on the customer experience, and you will be collaborating closely with the NOC and engineering teams to improve incident workflows and problem management integration.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with Zabbix, as well as a solid understanding of network monitoring across WAN, routing, switching, WiFi, and service layers. You will be working standard business hours, but may be required to provide on-call or extended support during key delivery phases. Your performance will be measured by key performance indicators such as reduction in alert noise and false positives, improvement in mean time to detect and resolve, and accuracy and quality of service-impact-driven alerts.

Wifinity is a company that prides itself on taking the complexity out of connectivity, offering super-fast speeds, WiFi, and secure and private networks to customers who may not have access to traditional broadband. As a Zabbix Engineer, you will be playing a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of Wifinity's services.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and enhance the Zabbix monitoring platform to ensure consistent and scalable configuration across all monitored devices
  • Develop templates, discovery rules, triggers, thresholds, and integrations to improve monitoring capabilities
  • Implement monitoring that reflects service health, customer impact, and end-user experience
  • Move beyond simple device availability toward service-level observability
  • Design and tune alerting models aligned to business impact to reduce false positives and alert noise
  • Ensure alerts are actionable and support efficient triage by the NOC
  • Integrate Zabbix with vendor platforms, APIs, and SNMP sources, as well as synthetic monitoring solutions
  • Support the development of a “single pane of glass” for monitoring visibility
  • Enable device → service → location correlation to improve accuracy of incident communications and field dispatch information
  • Define and support SOPs for alert triage and escalation
  • Work with NOC and service teams to improve incident workflows and problem management integration

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience with Zabbix (design, build, optimization)
  • Solid understanding of network monitoring across WAN, routing, switching, WiFi, and service layers
  • Experience with SNMP and device telemetry
  • API integrations and synthetic/user experience monitoring
  • Scripting and automation capability (e.g., Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Experience designing alerting logic and monitoring frameworks
  • Exposure to service-aware monitoring or observability approaches (desirable)
  • Operational experience working in a network operations or monitoring environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage incidents based on impact
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based incident and problem management processes

Nice to Have

  • Experience with other monitoring tools and platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and services
  • Certification in Zabbix or related technologies
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment

Benefits and Perks

  • Opportunity to work with a leading company in the connectivity industry
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Recognition and reward for outstanding performance

How to Stand Out

  • Be prepared to showcase your hands-on experience with Zabbix and network monitoring, and highlight specific projects or achievements in your portfolio.
  • Familiarize yourself with Wifinity's approach to connectivity and be ready to discuss how your skills and experience align with the company's goals.
  • Emphasize your ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as your strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Research the current market rate for Zabbix Engineers and be prepared to negotiate your salary based on your experience and qualifications.
  • Be prepared to discuss your experience with ITIL-based incident and problem management processes, and how you have applied these principles in previous roles.
