THE OPPORTUNITY As a Senior Technical Lead (L4), we are looking for the following: Role Overview TELUS Digital is seeking a Senior Technical Lead (L4) to join our NCCS engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with strong experience in Java development, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cloud modernization, and enterprise application migration. You will lead the design, development, and modernization of mission-critical enterprise applications while working with cloud-native technologies, modern DevOps practices, and AI-assisted development tools. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming legacy applications into scalable, cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform. Key Requirements (Mandatory) - Lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise applications using Java and GCP.
- Analyze, understand, and modernize legacy applications, including Oracle Stored Procedures and Informatica PowerCenter workflows.
- Design and develop scalable microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native technologies.
- Build and optimize SQL queries, data pipelines, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Develop and maintain GCP-based applications utilizing Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure, including GCP projects, IAM, networking, logging, and storage.
- Build Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Maven.
- Configure secure connectivity across enterprise environments, including VPC networking and external integrations such as SAP Callidus.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude to improve development productivity and code quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, code reviews, and architectural guidance to engineering teams.
- Strong SQL skills, including performance tuning and complex query development.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong programming experience in: - Java - Python - PySpark - Experience with GCP services including: - BigQuery - Cloud SQL - Cloud Run - Cloud Composer - Google Cloud Storage - Cloud Logging - Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and enterprise Java frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Maven.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Experience configuring GCP infrastructure, IAM, networking, and security.
- Experience with Git, source control, and Agile development methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently assess and modernize legacy systems.
- Experience analyzing Oracle PL/SQL and Stored Procedures.
- Experience with SAP Callidus integrations.
- Experience with Angular and Shell scripting.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
- Experience working in enterprise modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar tools.
