Job Description
#poweringyouringenuity 🚀 Our mission is to bridge top-level technology companies with engineering talent from across the globe. With presence in LATAM, USA and Europe, we empower companies by providing remote engineering teams of all levels tailored to the needs of each project. Our teams are passionate about technology and thrive on challenges. We value technical expertise and a willingness to learn new things. Each development is tailored to the needs of each project, so being passionate about learning and using new languages, tools, and frameworks is part of our DNA. Our software engineering teams focus on best coding practices to ensure readability, reusability, and scalability of our systems' designs and developments. We are looking for talented Software Engineers to join our team as Robotics Engineer. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and work with people from around the world to develop cutting-edge robotics solutions that will shape the future of autonomous systems. You will contribute to projects that address some of the robotics industry's most complex challenges, including mobile robot navigation, indoor and outdoor localization, fleet management, mission planning and control, high-performance software testing, robotic manipulators, computer vision, simulation, and more. This is an opportunity to work on innovative technologies, solve complex engineering problems, and make a meaningful impact by delivering software for real-world robotic applications. Your role and
Responsibilities
- Develop effective and efficient software robotic solutions applying different tech stacks, algorithms and making use of open source software - Transmit your passion for technology and professionalism to your peers - Be receptive and empathetic with your team and communities - Engage in the design and implementation of challenging problems for our customers, R&D and internal technology interest groups - Train yourself and other peers within our internal tech dojo - Feel motivated to contribute with high quality software to open source projects If you: - Have strong experience (+4 years) coding with modern C++ and Python.
- Have experience using Docker.
- Have a degree (Bsc., Msc. or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics or a related field to robotics.
- Can tackle mid-sized software development tasks independently.
- Are able to engage in technical implementation conversations, and make proposals.
- Are proficient in English and feel comfortable engaging in technical discussions and presentations.
- Have contributed to open source projects - Are an active member of a related interest group and did public speaking on tech topics Join us to be part of a dynamic community where your skills and contributions truly matter!
How to Stand Out
- Highlight any hands‑on experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) and Gazebo/Unity simulation in your résumé and include a short video demo of a ROS node you built or a simulation you ran; Ekumen’s interviewers will ask you to walk through the architecture and discuss real‑time communication choices.
- Showcase a GitHub repo that follows Ekumen’s “readability + reusability + scalability” mantra: clean module boundaries, comprehensive README, CI pipelines (GitHub Actions or GitLab CI) and unit/integration tests for robotics algorithms; be ready to explain your test strategy during the technical interview.
- Prepare a concise (5‑minute) presentation of a recent robotics project where you learned a new language or framework (e.g., switching from C++ to Python for rapid prototyping, or adopting TensorFlow‑Lite for edge inference); emphasize how you evaluated trade‑offs and integrated the new tool into the existing codebase.
- During the remote coding interview, expect a live‑coding task involving sensor data processing (e.g., filtering LiDAR point clouds or implementing a PID controller). Practice writing clear, well‑commented code on a shared editor and narrate your thought process—Ekumen values transparent problem‑solving over raw speed.
- When discussing compensation, reference the LATAM remote salary benchmarks for semi‑senior robotics roles (e.g., $45‑$60 k USD annually) and tie your ask to measurable impact you’ve delivered (e.g., “reduced simulation runtime by 30 %”) to demonstrate ROI for Ekumen’s distributed teams.
