Senior Software Engineer - Roboticist
Job Description
#poweringyouringenuity 🚀 Our mission is to bridge top-level technology companies with engineering talent from across the globe. With presence in LATAM, USA and Europe, we empower companies by providing remote engineering teams of all levels tailored to the needs of each project. Our teams are passionate about technology and thrive on challenges. We value technical expertise and a willingness to learn new things. Each development is tailored to the needs of each project, so being passionate about learning and using new languages, tools, and frameworks is part of our DNA. Our software engineering teams focus on best coding practices to ensure readability, reusability, and scalability of our systems' designs and developments. We are looking for talented Software or Robotic Engineers to work in the robotic industry as a Software Developer. You will work with people worldwide creating the technology that will impact how we live in the future. The projects are related to solving the industry's great challenges: mobile robot navigation, indoor and outdoor localization, fleet management, mission planning and control, high-performance software testing, manipulators, computer vision, simulation and much more. Your role and
Responsibilities
- Develop effective and efficient software robotic solutions applying different tech stacks, algorithms and making use of open source software - Transmit your passion for technology and professionalism to your peers - Be receptive and empathetic with your team and communities - Engage in design and implementation of challenging problems for our customers, R&D and internal technology interest groups - Train yourself and other peers within our internal tech dojo - Feel motivated to contribute with high quality software to open source projects If you: • Have experience (+2 years) with ROS or ROS 2. • Have experience (+2 years) coding with modern C++ and Python.
- Have experience with robotic simulators such as Gazebo or NVIDIA Isaac Sim.
- Have experience using Docker. • Have a degree (Bsc., Msc. or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics or a related field to robotics. • Are fluent in both Spanish and English and feel comfortable in a bilingual environment.
How to Stand Out
- Highlight any hands‑on experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotics middleware in your résumé and be ready to discuss a concrete project where you integrated ROS nodes, used catkin/colcon builds, and deployed code to a physical robot or simulator; Ekumen values proven robotics pipelines that can be adapted to diverse client stacks.
- Prepare a short (5‑minute) live demo or video walkthrough of a codebase that demonstrates clean architecture (e.g., SOLID principles, dependency injection) and automated testing (unit + integration) for a robotics‑related module; Ekumen’s interviewers look for readability, reusability, and scalability in remote code reviews.
- Showcase your ability to pick up new languages/frameworks by listing at least two recent self‑initiated learning projects (e.g., migrating a Python‑based perception stack to Rust for performance, or building a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions for robotic firmware); be ready to explain why you chose the new tool and the measurable impact.
- Emphasize remote‑team collaboration skills: include concrete metrics such as “reduced sprint cycle time by 15 % by introducing asynchronous code reviews and shared documentation in Confluence/Notion across LATAM and US time zones,” and prepare to discuss your workflow with tools like Git, Jira, Slack, and VS Code Live Share.
- When negotiating, reference Ekumen’s LATAM market benchmarks (e.g., senior robotics engineers in the region typically earn $80‑$110 k USD base) and align your ask with the added value of your robotics‑specific expertise, remote‑first experience, and any proprietary contributions (e.g., patented algorithms or open‑source ROS packages).
