Who we are
Powering the businesses that are the backbone of the global economy, Lightspeed's one-stop commerce platform helps merchants innovate to simplify, scale, and provide exceptional customer experiences. Our cloud commerce solution transforms and unifies online and physical operations, multichannel sales, expansion to new locations, global payments, financial solutions, and connection to supplier networks. Founded in Montréal, Canada in 2005, Lightspeed is dual-listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: LSPD) and Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: LSPD). With teams across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, the company serves retail, hospitality, and golf businesses in over 100 countries. Lightspeed handles your information in accordance with our Applicant Privacy Statement https://www.lightspeedhq.com/legal/applicant-privacy-statement/.How to Stand Out
- Highlight concrete experience with cloud‑native, microservice architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker) in your résumé and be ready to walk interviewers through a recent end‑to‑end delivery that involved scaling a financial‑services product under strict latency and compliance constraints.
- Prepare a 5‑minute “technical leadership portfolio” that showcases two specific cases where you mentored engineers to adopt best practices (code reviews, test‑driven development, secure coding) and the measurable impact on delivery speed or defect reduction; include screenshots of team velocity charts or GitHub metrics to substantiate results.
- Research Lightspeed’s recent fintech acquisitions and product announcements (e.g., their point‑of‑sale financing API) and weave those insights into your interview answers, demonstrating how you’d align the development roadmap with the company’s “mission‑critical” growth vision and regulatory requirements in Canada.
- During the behavioral interview, use the STAR format to describe how you built an inclusive culture in a fully remote team—focus on concrete actions like setting up async “virtual coffee chats,” establishing clear OKRs, and implementing bias‑free hiring rubrics—because Lightspeed explicitly values an inspiring, diverse work environment.
- If the role progresses to an offer, come prepared with market data for senior engineering managers in Canadian tech (e.g., average total compensation $180‑$220 k with 10‑15 % equity) and propose a package that includes a performance‑linked bonus tied to delivery milestones for the Financial Services platform, reinforcing your results‑oriented mindset.
