Sr. Director, Product & Experience Marketing
WFA Digital Insight
Thumbtack’s senior leadership is looking for a marketer who can bridge product vision and customer experience across both homeowners and service professionals. The role combines the strategic heft of product marketing—defining positioning before a roadmap is built—with the hands‑on execution of lifecycle, landing‑page, and content work that keeps users engaged after the first click. Reporting directly into the senior product and growth team, the director will shape narratives for a marketplace where trust is the currency. Candidates should be comfortable sitting at the intersection of product, growth, and commercial teams, translating raw user insight into clear, market‑ready messaging while mentoring a seasoned marketing group.

- A track record of working closely with product teams, not just downstream of them; you have built positioning and messaging frameworks that hold across multiple audiences and a complex product portfolio.
- Demonstrated ability to build positioning and messaging frameworks that hold across multiple audiences and a complex product portfolio.
- A clear point of view on how segmentation, personalization, and behavioral data should shape how a company communicates with its users over time.
- Strong cross-functional instincts—you earn trust with product, engineering, and commercial teams by being specific, rigorous, and useful.
- A commitment to developing your team and building clear accountability structures that help strong people do their best work.
How to Stand Out
- Highlight specific examples where you shaped product positioning before the roadmap was built; concrete case studies stand out.
- Prepare a short portfolio that includes messaging frameworks, lifecycle campaign results, and any landing‑page optimization work.
- Show familiarity with two‑sided marketplaces by discussing how you balanced differing user needs in past projects.
- During interviews, be ready to walk through your process for turning raw user research into actionable marketing strategy.
- Emphasize leadership style: give examples of how you built high‑performing teams and mentored senior marketers.
- Research Thumbtack’s current product suite and think of one improvement to its homeowner or professional experience.
- When discussing compensation, reference the senior‑level market range for remote product marketing directors and be prepared to negotiate equity.
