Sr. Software Engineer II
WFA Digital Insight
Trustedhealth’s senior engineering role is built around solving the most tangled problems that touch multiple services and squads. The team expects a leader who can take ambiguous, cross‑domain challenges—from a matching engine that ranks thousands of job opportunities to real‑time analytics pipelines—and turn them into maintainable, secure code. The stack leans heavily on Ruby on Rails and React, with GraphQL and Postgres underpinning data flow, so fluency in those technologies is essential. Beyond coding, the position demands ownership of on‑call rotation and the ability to design out repeat failures, meaning the right candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment where engineering standards are set, not followed.
Job Description
Trusted empowers the healthcare workforce with technology-first solutions to optimize the clinical workforce. By combining our AI-powered staffing platform with dynamic labor marketplaces, we help leading employers automate the matching and fulfillment of clinical staff---driving down labor costs and reducing administrative burden. Our mission, to help people everywhere get care, has support from top institutional investors such as Craft Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Stepstone, and Founder Collective as well as healthcare innovators like Texas Medical Center, Mercy Health, Intermountain Ventures, and Town Hall Ventures.
What we are looking for:
Your mission is to architect, lead, and safeguard the software that solves our most complex, cross-cutting user-experience and business problems — the ones that span multiple teams, services, and domains — so we can serve and delight our customers reliably and at scale. You'll work in a highly collaborative environment with engineering, design, product, and business teammates, not only to ship your own work but to raise the quality of the engineering around you and continuously improve our products, our systems, and our team.
As a Senior Software Engineer II at Trusted, you'll play a crucial role in the direction and long-term health of Works. You'll own technically challenging initiatives from ambiguous problems to durable solutions - architecting new integrations and system models, leading design reviews, and making the trade-offs between speed, cost, quality, security, and scalability that keep the platform maintainable as it grows. In close partnership with Product and Business, you'll get deep into business context, help shape the technical roadmap, and support the calls on what to build, defer, or rework. You'll also help setting the standards others follow: establishing the patterns, tooling, and operational practices that make multiple squads more productive, mentoring engineers, and helping develop our next generation of talent. When things break, you're trusted to troubleshoot the hardest on-call and production issues — and to design out the ones that keep coming back.
You should be fluent in automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and AI-assisted development, and able to elevate — not just follow — our engineering processes. We use Ruby on Rails for our backend and React for the frontend, along with GraphQL and Postgres. Proactivity, strong and effective communication, and the ability to build alignment across teams with different priorities are what turn technical expertise into cross-functional impact, while deep operational excellence keeps what you build reliable long after it ships.
This position is remote, however, applicants must be based in Brazil.
Your responsibilities:
- Develop new and existing features on a React web application and Ruby on Rails backend systems that power the core of our business and is used by thousands of healthcare professionals to manage their career and find the right job at the right time around the country
- Develop new and existing features on proprietary applications and services that enable Trusted to provide an awesome experience for healthcare professionals and win in the marketplace. Examples include services that automate complex communication trees and business processes, a matching engine that measures the relevance of jobs across many vectors, real time event and analytics pipelines, 3rd party service integrations, etc.
- Owns technically complex initiatives that span multiple teams, services, or domains. Helps create technical roadmaps for an area, group, or division.
- Solves high-complexity problems with sustainable solutions. Understands trade-offs between time, cost, quality, security, scalability, and business impact. Helps other senior engineers make better decisions.
- Defines or co-defines architecture involving multiple teams, bounded contexts, integrations, services, or data flows. Ensures consistency across multi-team interactions. Documents architectural decisions and reinforces them over time.
- Leads area-level initiatives in observability, reliability, security, performance, or quality. Helps multiple teams use operational data to improve stability and prevent recurring issues.
- Works effectively with Product, Design, Data, QA, Security, Operations, or other partners to refine scope and align expectations. Explains technical decisions in business/product terms.
Who you are:
- Collaborative. You are passionate about our mission and excited for the work we do. You take pride in building software that doesn't just work, but is also delightful to use

- Works with honesty & integrity. You work to earn trust and maintain the confidence of internal and external stakeholders. You do what is right, not just what is expedient
- Strategic thinker. You determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends. You are able to deal with complexity and change
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline is required
- 8+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails, React, CSS, or similar modern languages and frameworks
- 8+ years of experience writing production software that drives significant value for stakeholders

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
