Vanta’s Staff Product Manager for the Data Platform sits at the technical heart of a compliance‑focused SaaS, bridging raw customer data and the product experiences that prove security. Unlike a generic PM role, this position owns an end‑to‑end roadmap for a platform that ingests data from more than 16 k customers and powers AI‑ready services. The candidate will be the sole product voice for Foundations, meaning decisions about scaling, stability, and feature enablement fall directly on their shoulders. Direct interaction with customers adds a rare product‑validation loop, while daily collaboration with engineering and multiple product teams ensures the platform evolves in lockstep with Vanta’s compliance mission.

As the Staff Product Manager, Data Platform at Vanta, you will be responsible for product strategy and direction for Vanta’s data platform. You’ll sit between the core platform and feature teams, driving the roadmap for transforming how we fetch, store, and use data from customers and 3rd parties at scale. This platform directly enables customer and business outcomes, and backs Vanta’s products and experiences. This is a highly impactful, technical role at the center of how Vanta works and meets customer needs at real scale. Vanta manages data from over 16,000 customers and is rapidly scaling daily. You’ll be part of Vanta’s Automation group, which owns how customers discover and connect to other platforms through integrations, use that data to power product experiences and tests, drive customers toward compliance-related security outcomes, and ultimately generate the evidence required for audit. You aren’t building Vanta’s service delivery platform - you’re building the engine that powers compliance and monitoring outcomes. Your team will be Foundations, which has wide scope and depth, and you’ll be the sole PM to support the data platform. What you’ll do as Staff Product Manager, Data Platform at Vanta: - Own the impactful Data Platform roadmap, pairing closely with engineering counterparts to plan durable platform investments that serve our customers and products built on top of customer data - Collaborate closely with other product teams to understand what platform investments they need to be successful, get ahead of their roadmaps, and create a plan that balances short and long term needs to support customer outcomes.
- Directly drive the Vanta data platform strategy and support GRC strategies, creating clarity on sequencing and support as you build the platform and empower teams to use it.
- Guide the hard tradeoffs between feature development and platform stability, using clarity and empathy to provide clean direction to other teams.
- Enable and evangelize for the data platform, working with other teams to help encourage platform contribution and usage - Work directly with customers to understand unique platform requirements and opportunities including shipping features directly to support an outcome.
- Look ahead 12-18 months to build a platform that scales with Vanta, including building toward AI native uses and agent operations.
- Create and measure key metrics and results for platform investments, and own key outcomes around scalability, feature enablement, and queryability.
- Support an existing team of engineers and tech leads focused on the data platform How to be successful in this role: - Have 6+ years supporting platform teams, with a preference for data platforms or data products.
- Come having built 0->1 platforms. You’re not just comfortable with mature data platforms, but have experience building new systems over long time horizons with rich communication along the way.
- Balance independence and strong communication.
- Have strong frameworks to build complex platforms with clear sequencing, goals, and progress tracking.
- Be intensely curious and collaborative, naturally leaning into pairing with other teams to understand their platform needs, translate them into common requirements, and enable them as they develop new features and products. You’ve earned the trust of other teams and engineers with a track record of clear and unemotional decision making.
- Be technically sharp with data platform topics.
- Be outcome oriented, keeping business and customer goals front and center as you build platform, laddering your efforts up to demonstrable impacts.
