AI training contract
CFD Engineer
Engineering · Advertised USD 50-150 an hour. · 100 openings
CFD Engineer is contract work for micro1, reviewing and correcting what AI models produce in engineering. The output of the job is expert judgement written down: a model gives an answer, someone who knows the subject decides whether it is right and explains why.
What it requires. No credential is stated on this listing beyond experience in the field.
What it pays. micro1 advertises USD 50 to USD 150 an hour. It also states that pay is output based, paid per task that meets the project specifications, so the hourly figure is an advertised equivalent and not a guaranteed wage.
Where. The listing says this role is remote and names no country. micro1 says it hires talent from around the world, except people who reside in Afghanistan, Belarus, China, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Macao, Myanmar, North Korea, Russian Federation, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Yemen. So this page lists every other country as eligible, on the strength of that rule and not of anything this listing says. Requirements can still differ by role, so check the application page on micro1 before you apply.
micro1 lists 100 openings on this role.
Skills named: CFD engineering, Aerodynamics, fluid-dynamics.

Role Title: CFD Engineer Role Type: Contractor Location: Remote micro1 is engaging CFD Engineers to contribute to a project focused on advancing the capabilities of AI technologies within engineering simulation. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity enables you to impact the future of engineering by ensuring that AI systems can accurately interpret, solve, and explain complex computational fluid dynamics challenges across mesh generation, turbulence modeling, multiphase and heat-transfer simulation, solver setup, and verification & validation. Contributors who value accuracy, technical depth, and clear communication—both written and verbal—will find this engagement uniquely rewarding and influential. Scope of Work Evaluate and solve advanced CFD challenges involving mesh generation, turbulence modeling, multiphase flow, heat transfer, and solver configuration. Review and assess AI-generated technical responses for correctness, accuracy, and engineering integrity. Apply practical engineering judgment to simulation scenarios and theoretical fluid-dynamics questions. Analyze and troubleshoot CFD problems using best practices such as mesh independence, turbulence model selection, boundary-condition specification, and convergence analysis. Contribute domain expertise to refine and inform the reasoning capabilities of AI in computational fluid dynamics. Document feedback and provide clear written and verbal explanations that enhance AI learning and performance. Collaborate remotely within a distributed network of technical experts and project participants. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on fluid dynamics or thermofluids; or equivalent practical experience (3+ years) in CFD. At least 3 years of hands-on experience conducting and validating CFD simulations, including mesh generation, solver setup, turbulence modeling, multiphase/heat-transfer analysis, or post-processing in industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, HVAC, process, or biomedical. Deep understanding of Navier-Stokes equations, turbulence modeling (RANS, LES, DES), meshing strategies, boundary-condition specification, and verification & validation practices. Proven ability to analyze and validate fluid flow, heat-transfer, and multiphysics problems using CFD tools, cross-referencing with experimental or analytical data. Familiarity with relevant standards and practices (e.g., ASME V&V 20, AIAA CFD verification & validation, ITTC procedures). Excellent English proficiency with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Experience with CFD software (such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, or Converge) is a strong plus, as is a documented history of problem-authoring, technical committee service, competition leadership, or peer-recognized contributions in the CFD community. Compensation Structure Compensation is output-based; experts are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete work may vary depending on the expert's experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply. Experts must submit a minimum of tasks per week. Start Timeline & Availability We typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts ready to jump in right away. If selected, we expect you to start your first tasks within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.
