- Build a one‑page “risk‑analysis portfolio” in Excel that showcases at least two complex underwriting models you’ve created (e.g., loss‑ratio forecasting, exposure‑rating tables). Include screenshots of formulas, pivot tables, and conditional formatting, and attach the file as a supplementary link in your application to demonstrate the exact Excel skill TMHCC expects.
- Research TMHCC’s specialty lines (e.g., marine, aviation, cyber) and prepare a short 5‑minute case study on a recent claim or market trend in South Wales/West England. Be ready to discuss how you would assess the risk, price it, and align it with TMHCC’s “risk‑management‑first” culture during the interview.
- Highlight remote‑work discipline: in your cover letter, list the collaboration tools you use (MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint) and give a concrete example of managing a geographically dispersed portfolio while meeting deadlines—e.g., “co‑ordinated a renewal cycle for 120 commercial accounts across three counties, achieving a 98 % on‑time renewal rate.”
- Show proactive client‑facing ability by mapping the key industries in the South West (e.g., renewable energy farms, logistics hubs) and drafting a 2‑page outreach plan that includes travel logistics, meeting cadence, and value‑add proposals. Mention you can comfortably travel to client sites and attend the bi‑monthly Rearsby meetings.
- When negotiating salary, reference the 2024 UK underwriting market benchmarks (e.g., £45‑£55k base for comparable remote roles) and ask about TMHCC’s remote‑work stipend, travel reimbursement policy, and professional development budget for specialty certifications—demonstrating you’ve done market research and understand the total‑compensation picture.
