Content Localization Specialist (Japanese / Korean)
Job Description
ABOUT US Our mission is to reinvent the way people learn, starting with language. Learning a language can change a life by opening doors to new cultures, careers, and communities. The result is a complete path from beginner to confident speaker across multiple languages. Speak first launched in South Korea in 2019, where Speak has now become the number one language learning app, and we now serve learners across many markets and 15+ languages. How to Stand Out
- Highlight your Excel expertise by attaching a one‑page “Localization KPI Dashboard” you built (e.g., tracking translation turnaround, quality scores, and cost per language). In the cover letter reference the exact formulas or pivot‑tables you used, showing you can turn raw data into actionable insights for Speak’s AI‑driven lessons.
- Create a short, bilingual sample of localized lesson content (≈200 words) that demonstrates both Japanese and Korean cultural adaptation. Include a brief commentary on why you chose specific terminology or phrasing to align with Speak’s conversational‑first tone, and link the file in your resume’s “Portfolio” section.
- During the interview, be ready to discuss how you would audit existing Korean/Japanese lesson scripts for consistency with Speak’s AI feedback engine. Prepare a 5‑minute case study: pick a sample lesson, identify three localization issues, and propose concrete fixes that improve AI‑generated pronunciation hints.
- Emphasize remote‑work discipline: list the collaboration tools you use (e.g., Notion for task tracking, Slack for quick clarifications, and Google Sheets/Excel Online for real‑time data sharing). Mention a specific routine—like a daily 15‑minute “language‑quality stand‑up”—that ensures timely delivery across time zones.
- When negotiating salary, research South Korean market rates for bilingual content specialists (≈₩45‑55 M KRW base plus performance bonuses). Quote your proven metrics (e.g., 20 % reduction in turnaround time or 15 % increase in learner satisfaction) to justify a higher band, and ask if Speak offers equity or profit‑sharing tied to the AI tutor’s user growth.
