Senior Manager, Lifecycle Marketing
WFA Digital Insight
SurveyMonkey’s Lifecycle Marketing team sits at the critical junction where a new user becomes a long‑term customer. The Senior Manager role is unique because it blends hands‑on email expertise with broader customer‑marketing ownership, from activation through renewal and expansion. Unlike a pure email‑only position, this job requires coordinating with Customer Advocacy and Education to weave testimonials and learning content into the lifecycle flow. Managing a small team of email and customer marketers while shaping segmentation, personalization, and testing roadmaps adds a leadership layer that few SaaS firms offer. Candidates should expect to partner across Product, Data, Sales and Success to align messaging with product changes and revenue goals, making the role both strategic and execution‑focused.

We're looking for a senior Lifecycle Marketing leader to drive customer success from first activation through renewal and expansion by owning the team's strategy and day-to-day operations. You'll bring deep, hands-on expertise in the email channel — we run our lifecycle programs on Iterable, with HubSpot supporting prospect-facing engagement — and set a cohesive strategy across activation, retention, and expansion. As a leader, you will coach each owner's craft and partner closely with peer managers in Customer Advocacy and Customer Education to represent a cohesive, shared view of the customer journey. This role reports to the Director of Product and Lifecycle Marketing and manages the individual contributors who own Email Marketing and Customer Marketing. What you’ll be working on - Set the strategy and operating cadence for Lifecycle Marketing, aligning Email Marketing and Customer Marketing around a shared view of the customer journey and shared KPIs.
- Manage, coach, and develop the individual contributors who own Email Marketing and Customer Marketing, including their goal-setting, prioritization, and career growth.
- Own our email channel strategy in Iterable — segmentation, personalization, and a testing roadmap that raises the bar across every program the team ships — partnering with Marketing Operations, who handle build, send, and deliverability.
- Guide customer marketing programs (renewal, expansion, cross-sell) that drive deeper individual and team usage and investment across core and portfolio products.
- Partner closely with the peer leaders of Customer Advocacy and Customer Education so testimonials, reviews, and educational content flow into lifecycle programs, and lifecycle moments feed advocacy and education in return.
- Report on lifecycle performance to senior leadership, connecting program-level metrics to activation, retention, and expansion outcomes.
- Partner with Product, Marketing Operations, Data, Sales, and Customer Success to align lifecycle programs with product changes, commercial motions, and account health signals.
- Leverage AI where it makes sense to scale up and reach more people, while exerting strong editorial judgment and human-centered program development.
- Deep, hands-on strategic experience with Iterable or a comparable ESP (e.g., Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo), including experience running segmentation, personalization, and testing.
- A track record leading or closely partnering with customer marketing programs (renewal, upsell, cross-sell) tied to measurable revenue outcomes.
- A record of translating program and cohort data into a clear, prioritized lifecycle strategy for senior stakeholders.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with peer teams like Customer Advocacy and Customer Education, plus Product, Data, Sales, and Customer Success, to ship aligned customer communications.
- Bonus: familiarity with HubSpot (we use it for prospect-facing engagement).
How to Stand Out
- Showcase concrete examples of email campaigns you built in Iterable, highlighting segmentation and testing methodology.
- Prepare a short case study that demonstrates how you partnered with a cross‑functional team to drive renewal or upsell revenue.
- Highlight any experience automating workflows in HubSpot or Salesforce, especially if you integrated them with an ESP.
- Bring metrics that illustrate the impact of your lifecycle programs (e.g., activation lift, retention improvement) without fabricating numbers.
- Expect interviewers to probe your leadership style; be ready to discuss how you coach junior marketers and align team goals.
- Research SurveyMonkey’s product suite and think about how lifecycle messaging could evolve with new features.
- When negotiating, factor in remote‑work allowances, professional development funds and potential equity components.
