How to Stand Out
- Showcase Advanced Excel Analyses in Your Portfolio: Prepare a 2‑page case study that walks through a real or simulated clinical quality improvement project, highlighting pivot tables, Power Query data cleaning, VBA automation, and data visualizations (charts, slicers, dashboards). Include the raw dataset (or a realistic sample) and a brief narrative of insights that led to measurable performance gains—this directly aligns with Thinkbrg’s data‑driven consulting style.
- Demonstrate Familiarity with Clinical Quality Frameworks: In your cover letter and interview, reference specific industry standards (e.g., NQF, CMS Quality Measures, HEDIS, AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators) and explain how you’ve used Excel to track, benchmark, and report on these metrics. Interviewers look for consultants who can translate regulatory language into actionable dashboards for providers.
- Highlight Remote Collaboration Experience with Cross‑Functional Teams: Cite at least two examples where you led virtual workstreams involving physicians, nurses, and payers, using tools like Teams, Slack, and shared Excel workbooks with version control. Emphasize how you ensured data integrity and timely deliverables despite time‑zone differences—key for Thinkbrg’s distributed consulting model.
- Prepare a “Strategic Impact” Story for the Interview: Structure a STAR response around a project where your Excel‑based analysis identified a quality gap, you recommended an operational change, and the client achieved a quantifiable improvement (e.g., 15% reduction in readmission rates or $2M cost avoidance). Thinkbrg values concrete ROI and sustainable performance outcomes.
- Negotiate Salary with Market Benchmarks for Senior Consulting Roles: Research current compensation for senior healthcare consultants at remote‑first firms (e.g., $140‑$165k base plus 15‑20% performance bonus). Bring a one‑page salary matrix to the offer discussion, tying your Excel‑driven impact metrics to the higher end of the range, and be prepared to negotiate flexible work‑hour stipends or professional‑development allowances that align with Thinkbrg’s “consulting differently” culture.
