ABOUT THE ROLE WellTheory is looking for an Implementations Engineer to join our fully-remote team. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a mission-driven company working to promote better health outcomes for people with autoimmune disease — building the insurance and data infrastructure at the core of our business and helping new partners go live. You likely have 3-5+ years of experience as a software engineer. Our current stack includes JavaScript, TypeScript, React, React Native, Node, Postgres, and GCP — though you don't need experience with every piece; we're confident an experienced engineer can ramp up quickly. We're looking for someone with strong software engineering fundamentals, strong written and verbal communication, and experience making foundational technical decisions at the 0-to-1 stage. As a small team, we're all generalists who pick up new challenges — we want someone who can pick a problem and solve it. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Architect and build the insurance and data infrastructure that powers eligibility, verification, and claims - Work directly with new employer, health plan, and channel partners during implementation — collaborating hands-on to get each one live quickly and reliably - Make foundational technical decisions as part of a small, generalist team building at the 0-to-1 stage - Use AI tools to move faster and scale your impact as an individual contributor - Write clear documentation so teammates on our fully-remote team can ramp up easily YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU...

• Are customer-centric.

• Have experience in making foundational technical decisions at an early stage. You’ve built products or large features from scratch and know how to navigate the murky startup waters.
• Are a strong written communicator.

• Are battle-tested. You nerd out on building robust systems that help provide consistent value, and you have had to launch & maintain such systems in a production environment with real users for an extended period of time.
• Can scale yourself.

• Have deep empathy for the autoimmune experience. You don't need to have an autoimmune condition, but you can convey genuine understanding of the lived patient experience.
• Have a beginner's mindset. You love learning, ask questions without fear of judgment, and stay open-minded about new approaches.
• Are unreasonably relentless.

• Highlight any experience you have with health‑insurance APIs or similar data pipelines in your resume and cover letter.
• Prepare a short demo or code sample that showcases a complex integration you built, emphasizing documentation and reliability.
• Be ready to discuss how you’d approach onboarding a new partner from a technical standpoint, including data mapping and testing.
• Mention any AI‑assisted coding tools you’ve used and how they improved your workflow.
• Research WellTheory’s mission and be prepared to articulate why improving autoimmune care matters to you during interviews.
