Staff Content Designer, Investing
WFA Digital Insight
Wealthsimple’s push to demystify complex investing topics makes this Staff Content Designer role unusually hands‑on. Rather than polishing finished copy, you’ll sit in the product sprint room, turning margin calls, futures and perpetual contracts into clear, jargon‑light language that still respects seasoned traders. The team expects you to wield AI not as a gimmick but as a productivity engine—writing, prototyping, even shipping code changes. Collaboration spans design, engineering, compliance and brand, so you’ll need a blend of strategic vision and tactical execution. If you thrive on turning dense financial concepts into user‑friendly experiences while shaping the product roadmap, this is a rare chance to own the voice of investing at a fast‑growing fintech.

Wealthsimple currently serves more than 4 million Canadians and holds over $155 billion in assets under administration. ABOUT THE ROLE We're hiring a Staff Content Designer to be the voice of investing at Wealthsimple. The person who takes calendar spreads and margin calls and makes them make sense, without dumbing it down or drowning it with jargon. You’ll be embedded on product teams and partner closely with design, product, and engineering to build experiences that our clients love. This isn't a polish-the-copy-at-the-end role. You'll be in the room shaping what we build and how to position our products — not just the final words on the screen. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Write the hard stuff. Options, margin trading, predictions, perpetuals, futures — you'll write and rewrite the content so it all makes sense to a first-time investor and a seasoned trader.
- Work AI-first.
- Collaborate with product and design on key initiatives. You’ll work early and often with product and design to shape the product direction for big, challenging projects — not just tighten the copy once the decisions are already made.
- Make the team faster and better, not just yourself.
- A learner’s mindset. You don't need a finance background but you have experience that demonstrates your willingness to go deep on something unfamiliar and become a subject matter expert.
- Experience working with AI to increase your impact or empower others.
- Experience developing content standards, or integrating product content best practices and guidelines into a design system.
- Ability to think strategically about content and design while also executing on the details at a tactical level.
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and work quickly and decisively across different contexts.
- Experience empowering others through mentorship, coaching, and sharing best practices + techniques.
- Ability to work with Marketing, Brand, Legal and Compliance teams to deliver unified and consistent messaging across all touch points.
- A great collaborator and listener who loves to work together to understand and solve client problems.
How to Stand Out
- Showcase a portfolio that includes at least one case study turning complex financial content into user‑friendly copy, highlighting the process and results.
- Demonstrate familiarity with AI writing tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) by sharing examples of how you’ve used them to accelerate content workflows.
- Prepare to discuss how you’d approach content strategy for a new investing feature, emphasizing early collaboration with product and design.
- Highlight any mentorship experience; be ready to give concrete examples of how you’ve elevated junior writers.
- When interviewing, ask about the team’s current content standards and design system to show you’re thinking about integration from day one.
- If compensation details aren’t disclosed, research typical senior UX writing salaries in Canadian fintech and be prepared to negotiate based on your experience and the added remote‑work benefits.
- Watch for red flags such as overly vague expectations around AI usage without clear governance, which could indicate unrealistic workload pressures.
