- Show Mastery of Adjust and Advanced Excel – In your resume and cover letter, list specific Adjust modules you’ve used (e.g., policy issuance, claim tracking) and quantify results (e.g., “automated policy issuance in Adjust, cutting processing time by 30%”). Attach a one‑page Excel showcase with a complex TRI risk‑scoring model (including data validation, pivot tables, and VBA macros) to demonstrate the analytical depth the role demands.
- Build a Mini‑Portfolio of Transaction Risk Cases – Prepare a PDF of 2–3 anonymized underwriting files that walk the reviewer through the entire TRI workflow: transaction overview, warranty analysis, risk‑mitigation recommendations, pricing calculation, and final policy wording. Highlight any “red‑flag” warranties you identified and how your decision saved the insurer money or avoided coverage gaps.
- Tailor Your Pitch to TMHCC’s Global, Growth‑Focused Culture – Reference Tokio Marine HCC’s 146‑year heritage and recent expansion milestones (e.g., Houston Casualty’s 40‑year growth) in your interview answers. Explain how you’ll leverage the firm’s multinational expertise to source comparative market data for Australian deals while collaborating virtually with teams in Singapore, Europe, and the US.
- Demonstrate Remote‑Work Discipline and Communication Skills – Offer concrete examples of how you manage time zones, track deliverables, and use collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Slack). Mention a routine you follow for daily status updates to underwriters and brokers, and be ready to share a screenshot of a well‑organized Adjust dashboard you’ve built for remote monitoring.
- Negotiate Salary with Market Benchmarks Specific to TRI Underwriters in Australia – Research recent HIA and Payscale data for “Transaction Risk Underwriter” roles (AUD 90–110k base). Prepare a brief justification that combines your Adjust certification, Excel risk‑modeling portfolio, and proven cost‑saving results. In the negotiation, propose a performance‑linked bonus tied to the number of deals successfully underwritten or loss‑ratio improvements, aligning with TMHCC’s growth‑centric compensation philosophy.
